Fantasy role-playing game Forgotten Runiverse will migrate to Ethereum sidechain gaming network Ronin, developers Bisonic, Inc. and Magic Machine announced Wednesday, as the NFT project-based game is the latest to jump to the network popularized by Axie Infinity and Pixels.

Forgotten Runiverse, a free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), is based on the Ethereum NFT collection, Forgotten Runes: Wizard's Cult. The game allows players to form guilds, participate in player-vs-environment expeditions, engage in player-vs-player combat, and craft items using resources gathered from the game world.

The game was previously being built on Arbitrum, another Ethereum scaling network. Other crypto games that have migrated to Ronin—a network created by Axie Infinity developer Sky Mavis—over the past year include role-playing game Kaidro and the aforementioned farming game Pixels.

"The Forgotten Runiverse's vision of building a game that enables the community to interact in meaningful ways through shared experiences, storytelling, and adventure resonates with the Ronin community,” said Sky Mavis co-founder and CEO Trung Nguyen, in a release. “We are thrilled to see this genre and gameplay experience come to our community and welcome The Cult into the Ronin ecosystem."

The game's Ronin launch will begin with a closed beta event on July 31, followed by a public gameplay event in August. This pre-alpha "New Foundations" event will allow players to mint and build on plots, and offer mintable gameplay rewards.

All of the game-centric Forgotten Runiverse NFT collections will migrate to Ronin as part of the transition. Forgotten Runiverse is set to launch on the Epic Game Store later this year, with plans for mobile device optimization as well.
